Reasons To Choose A Natural Cradle Mattress

There are all types of different mattresses out there that you can get for cribs and cradles. You can get a foam crib mattress, or one with a bit more support. Although they are a bit more expensive, you can also get a natural cradle mattress for your child. There are a lot of good things about doing this, especially if you want to help out the environment a bit by purchasing natural products.

Not only is buying and using a natural cradle mattress better for the environment, it also reduces your baby's exposure to chemicals. These mattresses are commonly made out of materials such as organic cotton and have a food grade polyethylene coating. These materials are much safer than the vinyl and PVC coatings and polyurethane foam filling that are used in most mattresses. They release dioxin and are produced with various toxic chemicals. Many of them also include phthalates, which are now being shown to be dangerous to kids.

A natural cradle mattress will also use natural materials for fire retardants, such as baking soda and hydrated silica. The cotton also is less likely to burst into flame than the polyurethane foam filling. These mattresses still meet all standards in regard to flammability, and they do not off gas like many regular mattresses.

The natural cradle mattress is a particularly good choice for those with children who have allergies, since it doesn't contain any of the substances that kids are typically allergic to, such as wool or latex, and it is naturally dust mite proof as well.

Choose one of the waterproof options in order to make cleaning up after any accidents or spills easier. This way you don't need to worry about buying a separate waterproof cover for the mattress, which would most likely contain some of the materials that you are trying to avoid through the purchase of the natural mattress.

Baby Crib Mattress: There are a variety of this type of crib or cradle mattresses available, including firmer options with more support and those with a bit less support. Just take care to choose one that contains the specifications that are listed above for the safest option for your children to sleep on.
